Moths in a New Light: Prepare to be Surprised In-Person
Etowah Library
When many people think about moths, they probably don’t consider them beautiful, important, or worthy of protection. But guess what? Moths and their caterpillars are essential for a healthy, functioning ecosystem and are the foundation of the food chain. Did you know 96% of our songbirds REQUIRE insects, and especially caterpillars, when raising their babies? If we care about birds and want to help them succeed, we must appreciate the caterpillar connection.
Through gorgeous photography, and firsthand stories, Naturalist and Photographer Sharon Mammoser gives an introduction into the amazing world of moths, including a chance to see and learn about some of our local species. We’ll also discuss their important place in the ecosystem, and how to make our yards and outdoor spaces more bird friendly.
