Introduction to Canning

Introduction to Canning In-Person

Main Library

Join us to learn the basics of canning! When done safely, canning is a great way to preserve the abundance of the summer harvest for months to come. In this introductory class, participants will learn about the risk of botulism, an overview of proper techniques, and a review of the proper equipment needed for canning. We will discuss the two different methods of canning-- boiling water bath canning and pressure canning. We will also discuss the food safety risks that come with canning and how to prevent them. If you have been interested in learning more about canning but aren't sure where to start, this class is for you!
