Let's Get Growing: Holiday Plants & Traditions

Let's Get Growing: Holiday Plants & Traditions In-Person

Etowah Library

During this fun and informative holiday program we'll explore poinsettias, Christmas cactus, amaryllis... oh my!

We will discuss popular Christmas plants including their history and care, as well as Christmas traditions, origins, and lore and Biblical era plants and how they relate to the Nativity. What's up with mistletoe? Why wreaths? Pineapples?! Learn how the holidays are celebrated in other countries, plus other entertaining tidbits.

Participants are encouraged to share some of their favorite customs and memories. We'll also have special seasonal refreshments and maybe a carol or two!

This program will benefit both novice and experienced gardeners as well as newcomers to our area. As always we'll address best gardening practices, your own personal areas of interest and concern, and have time for questions.
