The Illustrated Diary of French Lieutenant de Verger From the American Revolution presented by Andrew Woelflein In-Person
Main Library
Andrew Woelflein presents a multimedia talk on the Illustrated Diary of Lieutenant Jean Baptiste Antoine de Verger from The Anne S.K. Brown Military Collection at Brown University. Using primary source materials and original art images, Woelflein will discuss Lieutenant de Verger’s experiences during the American Revolution. The narrative includes a focus on facts and stories of action that de Verger found particularly fascinating. His diary is unique because it includes illustrations of Native Americans, ships, tactical battle scenes, and one of the first images of a Black American soldier in a combat role.
Andrew Woelflein is a graduate of Brown University and Harvard Business School. He served in Trustee Roles for the Anne S.K.Brown Military Collection from 1996-2024.
